Homespun Foodie Fun

by Jessica on August 6th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

This wedding, designed by the bride with her awesome planner Trisha Dean, combines everything I love the most: amazing food, chalkboards, lots of champagne, burlap and lace. The feel of the day was clean and streamlined with food as the focus, and a homespun crafty feel to the design.  One of my favorite parts of the look were the beautiful papel picado flags which were fashioned into chandeliers to be hung from the rafters.  This design element was also included in personal flags, and banners for the back of the bride and groom’s chairs.    Mary McHenry is one of my absolute favorite photographers, and she did a gorgeous job (as always) capturing their day! Melissa and Yasuo, Whimsical Romance

by Jessica on August 3rd, 2012 in Real Weddings, | 4 Comments

After working with Melissa on events for the past several years, I would say we truly bonded over our love for Anthropologie and for weddings.  With that in mind, you can imagine how exciting it was watching her vision of an Anthro wedding come to life with the help of her own ingenuity and Naco Floral Art.  Melissa was pure style on her wedding day, which is reflected in the dozens of portraits I am sharing of her and Yas, because I just could not choose!  Lucky me, because Arrowood Photography got amazing shots everywhere from the waterfront to our historic porches.  I just LOVED Melissa’s bird cage veil and the layers upon layers of whimsical tulle in her dress.  And the romance was not just in the styling- Melissa actually learned her vows in Japanese as an homage to Yasuo and his family.  Many more gorgeous photos, and Melissa and Yasuo’s beautiful love story is shared on Tara Arrowood’s blog, please head there for more details!

Cavallo Point Wedding Cakes

by Jessica on August 1st, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

Today I want to showcase the beautiful wedding cakes, created by our amazing pastry team at Cavallo Point!  All of our wedding cakes are made in house just prior to the wedding, and never frozen so the flavor cannot be beat.  I highly recommend the devils food cake with chocolate mousse or the carrot cake with cream cheese filling.  YUM!

Cavallo Point Turns 4!

by Jessica on July 30th, 2012 in News & Events, | No Comments

I am lucky enough to have witnessed the past 4 years at this incredible property, and I feel so proud to be here to celebrate by assisting in the coordination of a 4th birthday party for the Lodge.  We planned to host this event on the back patio of the 601 building – a spot that I think is ideal for hosting a welcome event for wedding or event guests at time of check in.  The space offers access to our art gallery, the 601 firepit, and a lovely outdoor seating area.  Unfortunately, it was a bit chilly so we moved it into our beautiful Mariposa Room, for more of an indoor fete.

Hartmann Studios provided the linens- an ode to our green mission in Venice Citrine and Tuscan Citrine.  Hunt Littlefield, one of my favorite florists in the industry, provided the gorgeous flowers with pops of international orange to represent the beautiful bridge that serves as the backdrop to the property.  Peach Agua Fresca and Mint Lemonade continued the color scheme and made for delightful refreshments to enjoy on the patio.  Spanish guitar from trio, Fazz, set the tone for a lovely get together.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the past four years.  I am thrilled to be included in this team, and look forward to representing this beautiful property for years to come!

Sarah and Brian, Bright Colors & Beatles Fun!

by Jessica on July 27th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

When I met Sarah and Brian, it was only a couple of short months before their wedding, after their original venue fell through.  I was concerned that they would be upset, but Sarah was bright and cheery, something that I quickly learned to expect from this couple.  With that in mind, it was no surprise that she chose a gorgeous magenta hue for her bridesmaid’s dresses, and brightly colored bouquets that contrasted beautifully against the lawn, and gave a dramatic backdrop to their beautiful Mission Blue Lawn Ceremony. Sarah and Brian personalized their dinner in Verbena with adorable touches like  naming the tables after Beatles songs (to get guests excited for their amazing Beatles coverband The Sun Kings who performed in the Mission Blue Chapel for dancing).  Sarah and Brian, I cannot tell you how lucky I feel to have been a part of your special day- thank you so much for sharing it with me!  Event Coordination by I Do Wedding Management and photos by Wes Rowe.

Wine Country Party and Events

One of the perks of my job is getting to meet some of the wonderful and creative wedding vendors in the Bay Area, and explore the products that they have to offer.  I recently was able to visit Wine Country Party and Events warehouse with Andrea Borchers, their fabulous Director of Business Development, and was so excited by the incredible rentals they have to offer.  A couple of pieces I think are worth mentioning are their gorgeous collection of antique one-off items such as antique soda bottles, miss-matched floral bone china, and an array of reclaimed wood trays and baskets.

Looking for something more modern?  I fell in love with their Mendocino collection of wood and steel tables.  My favorite piece of the collection was the unique table offering a steel trough down the center for floral arrangements, or for something more funky, to fill with ice and have a built-in oyster bar or wine chiller!  I think that these pieces would work beautifully in our Callippe Ballroom, as the mix of modern and rustic would blend in perfectly with the modern carpet and rustic beams showcased in our ballroom.

Wine Country Party and Events offers beautiful options that blend into the overall style of The Lodge and with their wide variety of options from cabanas to furniture to linens, they make for a wonderful company to work with for all of your event needs!

Garden Romance in Callippe Ballroom

by Jessica on July 23rd, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

This wedding, is just so incredibly PRETTY.  It sounds simple right?  A pretty wedding.  I am in the unique (and lucky) position of seeing dozens of pretty weddings every year.  But this one, with photos by Deborah Laver,  stands out for me.  The linens selected (for several long kings tables in lieu of our standard rounds) are a heavy cream linen which works so nicely in this simple room of grays and creams.  What the linens lack in color they make up for with their beautiful quilted texture and delicate sheen.  The flowers, by Main Street Floragardens,  are made up of an array of beautiful individual centerpieces from small to tiny to mid sized in all sorts of containers- mercurial glass, terracotta garden urns, delicate china bowls.  The lush centerpieces of purples and greens tie in with the carpet and curtains and the cream paper lanterns draw eyes up to the barn-like exposed wood beams and 32′ ceiling.  Kathryn Kenna is one of my favorite event planners to work with and this beautiful wedding truly showcases why.

Ting & Craig, Spring at Cavallo Point

by Jessica on July 20th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

I often marvel at what amazing couples I get the opportunity to work with at Cavallo Point, and Ting and Craig definitely fall into that category.  They are such an amazingly accomplished and yet down to earth couple, and it was a pleasure to plan their special day with them.  Ting’s incredible dress with a back of peek-a-boo lace, really set the tone for this wedding for me.  It was simple but oozing with romance and style.  From soft butter yellow linens, to the paper lanterns in yellow, cream and dusty blue, Ting and Craig added their personal stamp, while still making use of a lot of the equipment Cavallo Point has in house, from Chiavari Chairs to table settings.  Flowers and design by Floramor.   I love the romantic antique feel to the photos, by Drozian Photography.  They were fabulous to work with, and I am so thankful to them for sharing their beautiful work with me!

Best Photo Spots- The Golden Gate Bridge

by Jessica on July 18th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | 2 Comments

I am always getting asked about the best photo opportunities for weddings at Cavallo Point.  I think today I will showcase the obvious one- the Golden Gate Bridge.  It is the obvious choice for a reason, as arguably the most iconic architectural structure in the Bay Area.  With our incredible views of the bridge, and easy access to it for photos, I strongly recommend taking the hop skip and jump down to the bridge to get that money shot.

Green and Orange in Callippe Ballroom

by Jessica on July 16th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

There is something so modern in the choice of color for this wedding, masterminded by Kathleen Deery Design with planning by Lisa McNichol from And Something Blue. The avocado linens contrasted against peachy napkins create a chic color blocking. Yet, the softness of the yellow tulips and peach garden roses in the centerpieces softens the contrast and brings some romance to the styling. I love the simplicity of the ballroom design against the more playful choices made in the adjacent foyer and terrace. Rust colored linens with delightfully matchy rose arrangements and the playful Twitter linen covered in birds and flowers for the escort cards gives a youthful dash to this wedding.
