Tanya and Chris, A Ray of Sunshine

by Jessica on August 31st, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

There is nothing that can put me in a good mood as fast as a bright pop of yellow incorporated into a beautiful wedding.  I just adore yellow, and Tanya and Chris’s beautiful floral arrangements filled with stems of golden ranunculus interspersed with succulents are so bright and fun.  I also love the beautiful floral neckware on their adorable pup, and Tanya’s cozy shawl.  There are so many beautiful details to this wedding, it is hard to believe it was an intimate elopement of just 20 close family and friends!  The Mariposa Room can be a little masculine with its gorgeous wood and leather design, so I adore the sunny and feminine color scheme being integrated so beautifully into the space.  The incredible Ingrid Nelson of Myrtle and Marjoram shot this beautiful wedding, and I am so glad she shared it with me!

Colorful Multicultural Celebration

by Jessica on August 29th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

This wedding, captured by the amazing Ingrid Nelson of Myrtle and Marjoram was one of the most interesting I have ever had the opportunity to work on.  The bride and groom lived in England, and wanted to incorporate many cultures into their celebration.  They hosted an intimate Indian ceremony in the Mission Blue Chapel, and instead of standing on the stage, they stood in the middle of the chapel with their group of 80 guests arched around them for a more familial feel.  The reception included unique multi-cultural details like a mariachi band during cocktails, groomsmen in traditional morning suits, and a Guyanese Black Cake.  Additionally, the Mother of the Bride owns a quilting store and brought dozens of handmade quilts to toss around the firepit for guests to snuggle up.  In the reception space, traditional rounds were tossed to the side for a more unique feel.  The room was set with three long kings tables in a U-shape around the edges of the room and the dance floor in the middle.  Planner Melissa Panico at Map Events, and florist Melissa Comito-Aakre of Simple Ceremony named each of the three tables: crane, shell and marigold and instead of table names, and each table was intricately designed to reflect its theme.

Playful Yellow and Pink

This wedding, planned by Amy Nichols Special Events, screams playful summer fun with its bright splash of color, DIY details, and modern styling.  The ceremony decor was creative and fun- beautiful handmade paper flags hung from giant shepherd’s hooks as a backdrop, brightly colored ribbons adorning the back row of chairs, a thick layer of rose petals lining the aisle.  The ballroom was accessorized with beautiful fabric swagging from the ceiling, and soft butter yellow linens.  Nancy Liu Chin worked her magic with a plethora of frosted white Ikea vases with simple arrangements in lemon yellow and hot pink perfectly assembled on each table.  Beautiful flower cake by Studio Cake and photos by Matthew May Photography.

Dinner Receptions in Verbena

by Jessica on August 22nd, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

Traditionally our wedding receptions are hosted in the Callippe Ballroom, and with good reason- it is the largest event space on property, and offers amazing flow from the start to finish of an event.  However, for those of you out there looking for something a little cozier, our Verbena Room might be just the ticket.  The space, which has a gentle “L” shape, and working fireplaces at each end, offers seating for up to 120 guests at queens tables or rounds of 10, or up to 80 if you wanted to use the front portion of the room for the cocktail reception space.  Its heated terrace offers panoramic views of the city and Golden Gate Bridge, and is an amazing spot for guests to hang out, waiting to welcome the new bride and groom.  Verbena is a great space for couples looking to host a more formal multi-course dinner experience followed-up with housemade truffles and port on the patio.  Or for those who still want to get their dance on, there is the option of moving up to our historic Mission Blue Chapel to keep the party going.

Puppy Love

This wedding, captured by Jasmine Wang is so full of good cheer from the bright color pallette, to the polka dotted cake, to the bride’s own glowing grin. The bright orange and turquoise tones used in the bridesmaid’s gowns, floral arrangements (mixed in beautifully amongst natural elements like succulents and blackberries) and even the dog’s collar are so sunny and sweet, it is easy to see why everyone is smiling throughout this happy day.  I am absolutely delighted by all of the shots of their adorable pup- she is clearly as happy as her owners to make their adorable family official!

Eclectic Travel

This wedding had so much style and flair, I just loved watching it come together.  But really, I should known that with Alicia K Designs at the helm it would be fantastic.  A bold and bright color scheme of citrine and coral really set the tone for a playful atmosphere.   Details inspired by their love of exploration like postcards, and a typewriter to create a “travel log” for the couple, and a station of chips from around the world gave a unique spin to this event.  Handmade paper cherry blossoms glued to tree branches to imitate a beautiful blooming tree made for a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony and were mirrored at the cocktail reception by a forest of birch “trees” displaying the escort cards.  The photos, by Sabine Scherer, capture every unique detail.  I hope you love it as much as I do!

Rachel and Blake, Zen in Verbena

by Jessica on August 15th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Rachel and Blake were so much fun to work with.  They share my love of amazing food and drink and I never tired of spending time discussing the food details of their wedding with them, from a dramatic shellfish station which was displayed on the walnut table in our Mariposa Room for their cocktail hour, to serving their signature drink, a meyer lemon moscow mule, in the perfect copper mugs.  Natalie Bowen did an incredible job creating a beautiful zen feel to their flowers, incorporating Asian herbal plants into a bevy of architectural arrangements that were abundantly scattered across their “queen” dining tables in Verbena.  Crisp ivory linens with soft blue runners and beautiful Japanese style paper menus by Olive-Route completed the look.  They moved their group back up to our Mission Blue Chapel for the dance party, with lounge areas, a paper crane station, the band, a photobooth, and a dessert station of tortes and tarts created by the loving hands of Rachel’s mother and her friends- so sweet!  Stacy McCain was an absolute pleasure to work with on the plans for this special day, and I love the way all of the details were capture by the lovely women of Gertrude and Mabel Photography.

Celebrating Lucky Number 13 with a Special Discount!

by Jessica on August 13th, 2012 in News & Events, | No Comments

When people think of the number 13, there is a general idea of the “unlucky” nature of this number.  Elevators in many hotels skip straight from 12 to 14.  People await bad luck on Fridays that fall on the 13th day of the month.  Personally, however, I think 13 is a lucky day, and on this 13th day of August I am excited to share with you some facts to prove my point.

Many 13 wearing sports figures have garnered great success while donning the number from Alex Rodrigues with the New York Yankees to famed football player Dan Marino. In Italy, 13 is actually considered a lucky number and is even represented in jewelry as a good luck charm.

As we move closer to 2013, I want to celebrate “13” as a lucky number to be wed, and am excited to offer an additional 25% off the Friday/Sunday facility fee for the following fun dates: 3/3/13 and 12/13/13.  That’s right- not only will you have an easy to remember anniversary, but a $4,500 facility fee for your wedding at Cavallo Point!

Photo Inspiration: Historic Officer’s Quarters

by Jessica on August 10th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

There is something so irresistible about the Colonial Revival style historic officer’s homes and barracks that make up Cavallo Point.  They hearken back to a simpler time, and just breathe romance and relaxation.  A bride said recently that she was looking for that “Ralph Lauren” shot on one of our historic porches, and I realized that is exactly what we have here.  Americana at its best.  I just LOVE photos taken with the historic buildings- on the steps, in the screened-in porches, through the original wavy glass- there are so many options and they are all so CHARMING!

Dianna and Steve, Modern in Navy and Pink

by Jessica on August 8th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Dianna and Steve chose a bold and modern feel for their Summer wedding at Cavallo Point with a navy and magenta color scheme.  The graphic blue and white print incorporated into their guest card table and menu cards had a nautical feel, perfect for a celebration on the San Francisco Bay.  The reception centerpieces by Amy Burke were spherical trios in white, raspberry and deep purple against grey linens, which were mirrored by the ceremony chair designs of thick navy ribbon tied to balls of greenery along the aisle.  They incorporated that beautiful navy ribbon detail again in the cake design by Studio Cake.
