Ceiling Decor in Callippe Ballroom

by Jessica on November 16th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

My favorite feature of the Callippe Ballroom is it’s 32′ ceilings with exposed wood beams.  It gives the room, which was once a gymnasium for officers and soldiers including basketball courts, a barn-like feel. Lighting and fabric swagging dress up the beams and really draw guests eyes up to the gorgeous architecture of the room, and there are tons of great options for this from fabric draping, to market lights to paper lanterns in many color options.

Jody and Ras, United Stated of Denmark

by Jessica on November 12th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Jody and Rasmus’s wedding was so chock full of details, that it was hard to select the photos to feature in this post.  Jody is one of the most vivacious bright people I have ever met, and her adorable new husband Rasmus, was the perfect counter point.  They brought in lots of personal details, including Rasmus’s Danish background and their love of biking (during their time together they have regularly biked over the bridge to spend time at Cavallo Point).  Danish words with translations were sprinkled throughout the day on rustic handpainted wooden signs, and Jody wore handpainted Tod’s dancing shoes, with one foot painted as an American flag and one painted as a Danish flag to celebrate their theme, “The United States of Denmark”.  Jody’s favorite aqua beach cruiser was parked at the ceremony with its basket filled with Fall flowers.  Fall details were also sprinkled through with jack-o-lanterns (which they carved at their welcome party with their guests), mini pumpkins in sparkle paint for the escort cards, and lots of yellow sunflowers.  Danish wedding dinners typically take 6 hours with lots of entertainment mixed in, so we did a modified version of this- a three hour dinner in our historic chapel for their 60 guests.  The party began with guests arriving on a Mexican party bus, and ended with dancing, confetti bombs and a choreographed dance in storm trooper masks.  What a day! Coordination by Lisa McNichol of And Something Blue, and the beautiful photos captured by James Everett who was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Photo Inspiration: Grass

by Jessica on November 7th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

I know what you are thinking.  Grass?  But Cavallo Point has some extraordinary grass.  There is nothing more beautiful then our rock-star brides who lay down in their brightest white in the no-mow (that’s right, those long luscious locks of green are only mowed every few months) for a stunner of a photo-op.  Or for the truly adventurous, take a mini hike up to Battery Yates, and stop for some beautiful pics in our amber waves of grain with views of the city and the GGB hovering in the background.

Christine and Grant, Vivid Colors in Verbena

by Jessica on November 5th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Christine and Grant’s wedding was photographed by the amazing Anna Kuperberg, and as such, I have been waiting excitedly for the photos, like a kid pining for Christmas ever since.  As such, I was thrilled by these beautiful photos, that so perfectly captured all of the incredibly creative details, by the very talented Stacey Dillon of Stacey and Co.  This couple planned their destination wedding from Texas, and so I recommended the idea of planting a native tree that they could then come back and visit.  They turned this simple idea into a beautiful ceremony, with burlap soil bags given to each guest to emptyonto the tree following a blessing.  The reception took place in Verbena for an intimate group of 40 guests, at one long table. Jewel tones, and beautiful metal “trees” with hanging votives set the romantic tone of the space, with succulent plants used for both place cards and guest gifts.

That an honor it is to be featured on the website of the fabulous Andrew Weeks this morning!  Andrew is one of my absolute favorite photographers, and is not just talented, but also an amazingly nice guy.  I have had the pleasure of working with him and his team on several weddings in the past couple of years (including some photos below!) and am always blown away by the beautiful work he produces.  I hope you enjoy this lovely feature on Cavallo as much as I did!

Candice and Dan, Festive Fall

by Jessica on October 31st, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

What better way is there to jump into November, than with a truly festive and fun Fall wedding.  Candice and Dan embraced the season fully, with beautiful red, rust and brown flowers by Not Just Flowers, accented with adorable tin pails filled with seasonal bounty like apples, and whole walnuts.  Their wedding cake was accented with fall leaves and tiny pumpkins (actually peppers!) Fall flavors were also incorporated into the day such a their cake which was two flavors- apple with caramel buttercream and pumpkin with creamcheese filling, and a candy station complete with house-made pumpkin seed brittle. What a beautiful way to celebrate their relationship and the season! DJ Jason from Quantum Music kept the party going and  Hewitt Photography captured the day.

Rehearsal Dinner Idea: Crab Feed

by Jessica on October 24th, 2012 in Design Inspiration, | No Comments

Besides our amazingly cozy cold weather vibe, and the excuse to snuggle up to the one you love, another great reason to host a winter wedding at the Lodge is CRAB SEASON.   San Francisco is known for its crab, and what could be more fun than hosting your guests for a good ol’ fashioned crab feed? I love the use of red and white checkered linens on queens tables with picnic benches shown here in our Verbena Room.  Or, add visual interest with newspaper or craftpaper table runners perfect for an interactive crab display. Finish the table with metal buckets for shells and lots of candlelight and get to crackin’!  Photos by Sarah Peet Photography.
